Some snowmobilers near Pequot Lakes performed an amputation on the leg of a deer that likely saved its life, said Pine River game warden Art Gensmer. The leg was injured in the hunting season and the deer could hardly move. After removal, it took off running.

Before a capacity crowd of 3,000 — including 500 from Brainerd — the Warriors beat Bemidji 59-51 on the latter's home floor to take sole possession of the lead in Central Seven play. Jim Smith scored 23 points. before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

All Brainerd and vicinity congratulate St. Paul's Episcopal Church on completion of their new church, to be dedicated Thursday. Its corner stone was taken from Gull Lake in 1856 by a missionary, and first used in the mission church at Crow Wing.

Complaint has been made of the number of dogs being poisoned in the city. Ever Baker lost his dog in Northeast Brainerd while driving there. The dog grabbed a bone and was soon in convulsions.
