The Warrior gymnastics team won its 10th consecutive Region 8AA title with 139.15 points, outdistancing St. Cloud Apollo in second with 131.85. Julie Beasley and Missy McCollough advance to state in individual events for Brainerd.


30 years ago (1981)

A request to connect the Brainerd and Baxter water systems at certain points was rejected last night by the Brainerd Water & Light Board. Len Peterson and Warren Welton voted against the measure as they saw no appreciable benefit to the city of Brainerd.

40 years ago (1971)

One of the earliest events of Brainerd's Centennial year celebrations will be the Flag Raising Ceremony on March 11. A flag will be raised on each corner of the Laurel Street bridge to mark four countries that have ruled the area - England, France, Spain and U.S.

60 years ago (1951)

Mrs. Ruth Ericcson was in Minneapolis yesterday to attend a permanent wave demonstration, and a demonstration of scalp treatments using the Arno Steamer. She also attended the Minnesota-Northwestern basketball game.

100 years ago (1911)

Six diamond drills of the Buffalo Creek Mining Co. are said to be exploring for iron ore in Section 10-44-31, south of the city of Brainerd. This is the company that is doing much to develop the country in the vicinity of St. Mathias.
