If you're under 21 and thinking of throwing a beer party this spring in Crow Wing County, the sheriff says: “Don't.” Sheriff Dick Ross says he has instructed his deputies to crack down on under-age drinking, and three beer parties have already been broken up.

A Nisswa man, who apparently surprised someone burglarizing his home, underwent emergency eye surgery after he was struck. Returning home at 8:10 p.m., Russell Schmidt was hit in the left eye and blinded, having little vision in his right eye.

Work is progressing as scheduled on the new telephone central office in Nisswa, according to the Northwestern Bell manager here. The building is now complete, and 20 telephone workers continue with work necessary to install dial service by June.

Mrs. D. E. Whitney was named chairwoman of a committee, composed of past presidents of the Brainerd Musical Club, to work with the Park Board in beautifying Gregory Park.

The first baseball game of the season was played last night between the Parochial school and the Lowell school. The Parochials played a fast game and defeated Lowell in six innings by a score of 23 to 11. Cleary and Imgrund pitched for the Parochial team.
