C-I High School graduate Tony Bonsante advanced to the semifinals of the National Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Des Moines. Fighting in the welterweight (147 pound) division, he decisioned Michael Nunnally to go to 17-2 on the season.

(Photo) The Crow Wing County Historical Society's renovation of the old county jail is proceeding, as shown by these piles of recently removed cell doors. The total project is expected to be completed by next spring.

Brainerd's high school Warrior golf team scored 21 points to 16.5 by C-I to pull further ahead in the Mid-Minn League title race. Coach Vern Moore's team leads the six teams with 64.3 points, C-I has 51.8 and Little Falls is in third place with 38.0.

Brainerd's sports veteran Jim Smith counted 23 of the 47 points the Warriors scored in the track meet against St. Cloud and Little Falls. He won the 120-yard high hurdles, the high jump and the broad jump, placed 2nd in the pole vault and shot put and 3rd in the discus.

The Cubs and the Tri-His will fight to break the tie for second place in the women's kittenball league tonight, while the Sluggers will try for their first win against the undefeated Soakums. The game will be played at the N. P. Ball Park.
