In last weekend's Region 8AA track and field meet, the Brainerd Warrior's Nikki Tanner crowned her high school career with a runner-up finish in the 100 meter dash. That earned her a third trip to state — her first in an individual event.

40 years ago (1971)
(Photo) Mrs. Linda Sue Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Albrecht, Oak Ridge, Route 1, Brainerd, has graduated from Hibbing State Junior College. She received an associate of science degree in nursing.

“Out-Again-In Again” Claude is headed back for 30 days in the county jail this afternoon after six hours of freedom. After being released at 9 a.m. he apparently spent six hours consuming a liquid diet, as he was picked up for drunkenness at 3:30 that afternoon.
80 years ago (1931)
Distribution of 2,620 new telephone directories to subscribers in Brainerd is underway, and should take about three days. Old books will be collected and destroyed to prevent confusion with numbers that have changed in the new directory.
100 years ago (1911)
The Brainerd Mining Co. had its annual meeting, and stockholders elected directors and officers. Company affairs are in excellent shape and only last month a dividend was declared. The company has leased its land near Barrows to the M. A. Hanna Co.
