Brainerd Warrior senior Tonya Olson has been named to the All-Central Lakes Conference softball team. Brainerd senior doubles partners Scott Revenig and Jean Pomerleau have been named to the All-CLC tennis team.

Junior long jumper Ramona Rugloski leaped 17 feet 11.5 inches to come away with a third place finish, the best of any Brainerd High School track representative in the state track meet. Nina Borgwarth ran 15.4 to finish 7th in the 100-meter hurdles.

(Photo) Cindy Glendenning of Merrifield has caught the top largemouth bass so far this season in Paul Bunyan Vacationland. This 5-9 specimen grabbed her Bass-Oreno bait at Bass Lake out of En-Dah-Win Resort.

Somewhere on the dark waters of Gull Lake two would-be burglars fled in a leaking boat after trying to burglarize the Grand View Lodge boathouse. But guarding the property was Ray Bennett, member of the Kansas Univ. rifle team, who shot holes in their boat.

Brainerd's high school track stars were home today after placing 10th in a field of 69 schools at the State High School Track Championship. Brainerd was led by Vernon Marshall, who won the discus championship with a toss of 112 feet, 11.5 inches.
100 years ago (1911)
A delivery team of the O'Brien Mercantile Co. ran away this morning and collided with a wood team in the alley behind West's restaurant. Wood was scattered in all directions, but no injuries were sustained by wagons, horses or drivers.
