Crow Wing County Attorney Jack Graham announced his intent to resign this morning in a letter to county board chair Steve Sievek. He gave no date for leaving office, but said it was triggered by Judge Wyant's decision in the police case.

40 years ago (1971)

Thousands of people lined Brainerd's curbs and sidewalks for the huge Centennial parade that climaxed the observance of the city's 100th birthday celebration. 

60 years ago (1951)

No one left Memorial Park disappointed after last night's Booster Night victory, 8-0 over Foley. Herb Score, Brainerd's ace lefthander from Lake Worth, Florida, tossed a no-hitter while striking out 19. The Brave's 11-hit attack brought them their 22nd win.

80 years ago (1931)

A lily of extraordinary development and beauty is being shown today in the Laurel Hat Shop windows. It is a gold-banded lily having six blooms on a single stalk, considered a rarity. It was raised by Miss Katie Paine in her garden at 307 North 5th Street.

100 years ago (1911)

City policemen were astonished at the generosity of the city council in raising their pay by $5 per month. When Police Chief Ridley was asked for his opinion by the city clerk, he steadied himself by grabbing his desk, then said, “Go away. I don't believe it.”
