What began as a dream last winter will come true August 30 at Don Adamson Field as the Brainerd Warriors open their football season by hosting Robert W. Service High School of Anchorage, Alaska. A slate of activities are planned during the week.

The Brainerd School District will have extra money in its general fund next year, as voters last night approved a 2.25 mill local tax levy by 1,449 to 1,318. Supt. Bob Gross said the extra money isn't a cure-all; rather the district won't have to cut as deep.

A tear gas demonstration proved convincing to a number of folks at city hall this morning. Nine people sniffed the gas when it was tested. Among those running from the building were Judge Warner, Police Chief Templeton and the Brainerd Dispatch reporter.

The Brainerd baseball team has accepted the challenge from Little Falls to replay the recent tie game which was called by darkness, score 1-1. But Brainerd will raise the side bet from $150 to $300. That should make Little Falls sit up, put up or shut up.
