Ron Storstad of Brainerd caught an event-record 21-1 northern to finish first in the 17th Annual Northern Pike Tournament at Ron's Squaw Point on Gull Lake. The previous record was 19-5, caught by Ron Kobes of Brainerd in the 1981 tournament.

A stepping up of fish stocking in the area was announced by Walter Gulbranson, area fisheries superintendent. Two bass ponds yielded 15,000 fingerlings which were stocked in five Crow Wing County lakes, and 884,000 walleye fingerlings went in 35 lakes.

J. S. Lewis, Long Prairie attorney, transacted business in Brainerd today. He said it was his first visit here since eight years ago when he assisted in the formation of the new American Legion post in Brainerd.

Fred Drexler has a county fair exhibit on display at his blacksmith shop on S. 6th Street gathered from the Drexler-Baker farm at Nary. There are carrots weighing five pounds, a cabbage weighing 21 pounds and a hill of nine potatoes weighing 6.5 pounds.
