(Photo) Gary Hassel, a printer at the Brainerd Dispatch, needed 15 minutes to land this 41-8 muskie (with boating help from Larry Specht) in the Mississippi River. The lunker struck a Lindy Tandem and measured 52 inches long and 25 inches in girth.

Due to changes in state law, Henry W. Longfellow, now Crow Wing County's probate and juvenile judge, will become County Judge next July 1. Darrell Sears currently serves as Brainerd Municipal Judge, but the office will be abolished when his term expires.

(Photo) If the Brainerd Warriors hope to continue their winning ways on the gridiron next season, they'll have to do it without these five seniors, just named all conference: Jerry Hill, Ron (Gup) Hess, Bob Lee, Morris Bisted and Jack Karnowski. Brainerd was 6-2.

Two Brainerd prospectors, Charles and Fred Britton, claim that land near Brainerd - and even property in the city - abounds in valuable minerals. They appealed to the city council for the right to sink a shaft on the Holland property, just north of Oak Street.

There has been filed in the register of deeds office a plat of the First Addition to the town of Barrows. The Iron Range Townsite Co. owns the land in Section 9, and it consists of three blocks lying near the pretty park on the north end of the present town.
