(Photo) Despite the intense cold, a large crowd turned out at the American Legion Club to pay tribute to Ray Bang, being honored as Brainerd’s Citizen of the Year. Bob Gross served as emcee as members of various organizations combined for a “roast and toast.”

The Brainerd City Council met as the ordinance committee but the main item of discussion was the engineer’s office. City Engineer Dave Reed said the volume of work requires two engineers – himself and assistant George Kriha. The council agreed.

Dr. John Thabes, Jr., took office as chief-of-staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital at the annual dinner meeting held at Cave’s Restaurant. Thabes succeeds Dr. G I. Badeaux, who presided at the meeting. Dr.R.A. Beise was named as vice-chief of staff.

High scoring and close competition marked the ten-pin clashes at Van’s Alleys last night. E.M.B.A. moved into first place, defeating the Brainos. Rardin held honors with a three-game count of 648, topping the previous season record of 640 by Hanson.

The Eagles installed their officers last evening in ceremonies under the direction of Past Worthy Presidents George Sargent and George West. When they let the Georges do it they certainly did a good job. The rabbit bouillon served in the dining room was a feast.
