Crow Wing County Sheriff Dick Ross has announced four promotions in his staff: Dale Christensen to administrative sergeant, Rod McCulley to senior dispatcher, Neal Gaalswyk to senior recreation officer and Todd Dahl to patrol sergeant.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a snowmobiler who blinded a deputy with a Mace-type spray. Greg Stenglein stopped to investigate two sleds stopped on the road. After an altercation, one Maced him and they escaped. Stenglein is OK now.

Suspension of service by Wisconsin Central Airlines between the Twin Cities, Brainerd and Hibbing, was announced today by the airline president. In a letter to Walter Wieland, chair of the airport commission, it was said that the suspension is only temporary.

Walter Van Doren, amateur Brainerd flier, can now appreciate that cheerful greeting, “Happy Landing.” After three previous unsuccessful attempts to fly his home-made plane, all of which ended in crashes, but not injury, he managed a 15-minute flight.

The dance of the clerk’s union was one of the gala events of the social season. Graham’s eight-piece orchestra furnished the music. The Citizens State Bank Hall is said to have had more dancers in attendance at this dance than any other event this season.
