The Brainerd Warriors and Bemidji skated to a 2-2 overtime tie to put the Warriors at 11-3-2 overall for the season. The Warrior effort was led by Jerr Johnson scoring his 25th goal and some admirable goaltending by Chad Strowbridge.

A shared heritage in one of WWII’s most arduous ordeals — the Bataan Death March — brought a California National Guard battalion to the Brainerd Armory. Three members of the 3rd Bn, 149th Armor visited to renew friendships while winter training at Ft. Ripley.

The Brainerd Lions Club has announced committees to spearhead efforts to establish an indoor hockey rink here. Coordinators are Dr. Jack Echternacht and Jay Simon. Also serving are Bob Turcotte, Bob Alderman, Derrill Holland and Bud Henderson.
60 years ago (1952)
Crystallization of long dreamed of plans to build a new Catholic grade school here has virtually assured youngsters at St. Francis parish of a new facility by 1953. The school will be a block long, between 8th and 9th Streets on the north side of Juniper Street.
80 years ago (1932)
One thousand ice cream cones were dished out to happy youngsters at the annual party given by the Order of Eagles for members and their families at the Moose Hall. The event was rated a huge success, 500 people being present.
100 years ago (1912)
The Dispatch is late today because the Toltz Engineering Co. did not furnish any power to the business district from 12:30 p.m. for over four hours. This loss of power is an inconvenience resulting in financial loss to this paper and every other power user.
