As a youth hockey player in the mid-1980’s, Jerr Johnson admired Warrior center Sandy Smith, who set school records for goals and points before graduating in 1986. Johnson broke the points record with a goal and two assists in a 10-1 victory at Detroit Lakes.

Preliminary approval for the financing of a $13.2 million addition and remodeling project for St. Joseph’s Hospital was given by the city council despite protests from some neighbors on the parking situation. Application for sale of bonds will be sent to the state.
40 years ago (1972)
Coach Bill Selisker’s C-I Rangers made it a clean sweep of the Warriors this season with a 56-55 victory at Brainerd. The Warriors scored 9 more field goals than C-I, but the Rangers hit 28 of 37 free throw tries compared to Brainerd’s 9 out of 23.
60 years ago (1952)
Although the Warriors repeated their earlier success over the powerful C-I Rangers, winning 49-38, coach Fred Kellett’s club is worried. Early in the conflict Brainerd lost the services of team sparkplug, guard Ron (Gup) Hess, with a foot injury.
