Circumstances surrounding the disappearance in 1989 of Joe Eide of Brainerd are the subject of a renewed investigation by County Attorney Jack Graham. Graham is employing an investigator from his own budget to probe certain aspects of the case.

Brainerd High School’s wrestlers haven’t lost to St. Cloud Tech since 1969, but Friday they scored their greatest margin of victory ever, a 56-2 success at St. Cloud. Their only loss of points was a draw at 170 pounds. Six Warriors registered pins in the contest.

Joey Kretzman, stellar junior welterweight who was named the tournament’s Best Boxer, took a unanimous decision over Gary Burgardt of Little Falls in the sectional Golden Gloves tournament. He and Don Rude move on to the Upper Midwest tournament.

Spring spearing has done more to deplete the fish population in Brainerd area lakes than any other method of taking fish, according to Walter Gulbrandson, state fisheries supervisor for Brainerd. Spearing of suckers is OK, but spearing game fish is illegal.

Skating at Gregory Park is fine and the rink is crowded every night. It is estimated that 400 people skated last evening. The ice will be flooded Friday morning, so the park board urges skaters to turn out with brooms Thursday night to clean the ice before sprinkling.
