Warrior senior John Linn qualified for the slalom skiing state meet with an eighth-place finish in Thursday’s Section 7 meet at Spirit Mountain. The Brainerd boys’ team took third place and the Brainerd girls finished sixth.
30 years ago (1982)
The Brainerd School Board gave preliminary approval for the a cappella choir’s planned visit to Washington, D.C., after exacting a promise that needed funds will be raised. Choir trips to Switzerland in 1976 and England in 1980 needed last minute rescue funds from the board.

(Adv.) Band Concert – by the Washington High School Band – Sunday, Feb. 10th in the high school auditorium. Soloists are Fred Holmquist on cello and Jack Mehaffey on cornet. There is no admission charge.

Because their baby was born when the temperature outside the house hovered well below zero, Mr. and Mrs. Frost of Oak Lawn Township named their new son Jack Frost. Cold weather has prevailed since the birth, causing residents to wonder at the connection.

At Rosko Bros. Garage one of the newest things in cars is the self-starting Hudson. This car can remain in storage, yet by working a lever at the seat, will start promptly. This does away with leaving the car, cranking at the front and possibly breaking your wrist.
