It was a good night to get your name in the newspaper. In Brainerd’s 79-59 conference victory over Monticello 22 players, including 12 of 14 Warriors, scored. Kyle Smith scored 25 points, the 10th consecutive game he has scored more than 20 points.

Thieves last night hit the Trinity Lutheran Church on S. 6th Street and the Tastee Freeze at 8th and Washington Streets. Entry to the church was through a window and to the restaurant through a roof vent. Little money was taken but both were ransacked.

Brainerd’s high school Warrior basketball team played poorly at Bemidji last night, getting the short end of a 17-6 count. As the score indicates, Brainerd experienced one of its “off nights,” failing to gain their stride and conquer a mediocre Bemidji quint.

100 years ago (1912)

To have 30 hens lay in the month of January and produce 530 eggs is the record made by William Eastling’s chickens. This is thought to be a record for the county and perhaps the state. Eastling has erected spacious chicken buildings at his home at 923 Holly Street.
