District Court Judge Clint Wyant has dismissed a charge of false imprisonment against a man accused of selling a 4-year-old child to a Deerwood couple for $7,000. But the judge did call the sale “a reprehensible little deal whose only real victim was the child.”

The largest steam locomotive in the world when it was built in 1928 now awaits the hammer, blowtorch and chisel at Brainerd’s NP Railway reclamation plant. The 412-ton giant measured 16.5 feet high and 85.5 feet long. It burned a half-ton of coal per mile.
