(Photo) With a week to go before the first group on the 1992 London Trip departs, participants in the BCC college tour to the British Isles busily checked itineraries at a meeting at the Holiday Inn. More than 100 will go, guided by BCC faculty, including Joe Plut.

30 years ago (1982)

A ruling declaring Illinois’ fluoridation law unconstitutional may have national significance, said the plaintiff’s attorney, Jack Graham of Minneapolis. Graham represented the plaintiffs in the class action suit, and also represented Brainerd fluoride foes.

40 years ago (1972)

A group of west Brainerd businessmen have formed an organization called West Side Merchants to promote business in their area. The first board lists Marv Bollig, Arne Moores, Glen Gustafson, Ken Schroeder, Mel Ripley and Lee Krautkremer.

60 years ago (1952)

(Adv.) Free dancing at Club LaGuyal every Saturday to Howie Hill and his band. Dancing every Saturday night at the House of Earl, Ft. Ripley. Dance every Saturday at the Blazer in Nisswa, music by “The Northern Knights,” Modern and Old Time.

80 years ago (1932)

Surprised by officers as he operated a fully equipped moonshine whiskey still, a Pine Center man was in custody in the county jail today. Sheriff Frank Little said the prisoner’s 100-gallon still supplied whiskey sold on the Mille Lacs Indian reservation.

100 years ago (1912)

One of the most reprehensible crimes ever committed in Deerwood occurred when some rascal, with no sense of decency, robbed the coal bins of the editor of the Deerwood Enterprise. Lynching is none too good for a man who will commit such an act.
