Sebeka produced another winner in the 1992 Regional Citizen Bee. Nick Sturm was the winner with 69 points, following Tim Arretche, who won the title in 1989 and went on to take 2nd in the national competition. Holly Hassel of Brainerd was second with 67 points.

(Photo) Walt Stark, district forester at Pillager for the past 30 years, receives the DNR Golden Anniversary Citation in honor of his 38 years service to the department. He was previously at Moose Lake. Making the award is Cliff Carlson, Brainerd area forester.

Wayne Caughey’s outstanding shooting (six of seven from long range) carried the Warriors through a rugged first quarter against Fergus Falls. Brainerd finished strong for a 75-63 win and a return to the state tournament. Caughey had 21 points to lead the team.

Carl Johnson, of 12th Ave. NE, appeared before the city council to ask why a complaint had been filed against him for having three horses at his place. Alderman Krueger said a neighbor worried about the stench in the summer. The complaint was tabled until warm weather.

C-I was eliminated from the championship bracket of the state basketball tournament by Winona, 27-15. The Rangers trailed 13-2 at the half as Winona, though outsized and outweighed, went through, around and between the towering C-I players.
100 years ago (1912)
John Anderson, the champion welterweight wrestler of Finland, easily defeated Harry McAlduff, the Canadian Kid, Saturday night, taking two straight falls. Anderson took the first fall in 4.5 minutes, and the second in 1.5 minutes.
