(Photo) Steve Masimore and Larry Miller took one last ride across Round Lake on their sail sleds recently. The two are part of the Nisswa Sailcats, a club which enjoys windsurfing on the water and sailing on the ice.

Cracks running the full length of the new airport runway, some as wide as one-half inch, have Airport Manager John Riedl worried. At a meeting of the airport commission, Riedl said the cost to repair the runway could be significant plus there is a liability issue.

Twenty-two cars of a Northern Pacific freight train enroute from Brainerd to St. Paul were derailed today three miles from Ft. Ripley. No members of the train crew were injured but one of the rail cars was thrown to within 25 feet of Highway 371.

A couple from Brainerd came down to Little Falls expecting to get married and surprise their friends. But they neglected to get a license in Crow Wing County, the bride’s residence, so they were told “no way.” The couple left for Brainerd, disappointed.
