The death penalty should be brought back and term limits should be instituted for elected officials, according to a poll taken by the Dispatch at the annual Commerce and Industry Show. Voters favored the death penalty by 3-to-1, and term limits by 4-to-1.

The Brainerd School Board made it official last night, voting 5-1 to close Garrison and Edison elementary schools at the end of the school year. The district will save $158,200 and 29 students from Garrison will be relocated, plus another 150 from Edison.

William Potvin, N. 7th Street, Brainerd, has been selected as winner of the Al Broman Memorial Scholarship from the Brainerd American Legion. Besides ranking high in his graduating class, he is involved in activities, and in football, basketball and baseball.

Crow Wing County can look forward to its own television on a new station which may be built under a plan of the FCC, in Brainerd. The FCC plan, which has just been adopted, calls for 46 new stations in Minnesota, most of them in the untapped UHF frequency range.
