(Edit.) The indicators are holding. The economy seems to have bottomed out and we are on our way out of the recession that has been gripping the country. There are signs here that activity is picking up. Home building contractors say they are busy this summer.

Thefts of seven outboard motors and various other items from Brainerd area cabins are being investigated by the Sheriff’s department today. Two of the outboards were stolen from the Corps of Engineers at their Crosslake Federal Campground.

(Photo) Police Sgt. Joe Nolan examines some of the $300 stock of fireworks confiscated this week by Nisswa authorities. A Minneapolis man was arrested after attempting to sell them. He was fined $50 by Nisswa justice-of-the-peace Leonard Dally.

Cupid has successfully culminated a romance between two air-minded young people. James Nolan, Brainerd, and Mary Jean Aylward, DeGraff, will be married in a plane circling over Rosko Airport, with Judge Kinder officiating, in Brainerd’s first airborne wedding.
