20 years ago (1992)

Two new trails for ATVs were authorized by the Crow Wing County Board. One, in Section 30 of Ft. Ripley Township, and the other, south and west of Pine Center, will be built by two ATV clubs. No other trails will be built until a one-year report is rendered.

30 years ago (1982)

Two complex civil lawsuits pending in district court were settled out of court or are nearing settlement. One involves cracks in the exterior of the Law Enforcement Center. The second was brought by owners of the explosion-damaged Echo Ridge Resort.

40 years ago (1972)

(Photo) The Brainerd Service League holds its annual Book Fair today and Tuesday in the Brainerd Mall. Setting up for the sale are Eileen Kinney, Melba Griffin, Betty Alderman, Hazel Fezler, Caye Ebert and Carol Ruttger.

60 years ago (1952)

Figures released by the Brainerd Civic Assn. show the Tourist Bureau, operated by the association, had the busiest weekend in history when 875 groups were served from July 3 to July 7. Each group making inquiries averaged four people, so 3,400 were served.

80 years ago (1932)

100 years ago (1912)

As a matter of self-protection, J. A. Hoffbauer, Dispatch reporter, who cracked a rib in an auto accident, wishes his demonstrative friends to desist. Many of them have been in the habit of slapping him on the back. Please refrain until his left side ribs get set.
