Exploding for five runs in the fifth inning, the Brainerd American Legion baseball team topped Little Falls 9-7 to claim the regular season championship of the Central Minnesota League. Sub-district play begins tonight in the Legion tournament.

Rainfall in Brainerd and immediate vicinity has totaled 8.29 inches in a four-day period, according to Homer Whiting, forestry supervisor here. Some fields are inundated and water stood a foot deep on some highways. Lakes are at highest levels in years.

Packing duffel bags and camping equipment, 18 Camp Lincoln boys and two counselors will paddle canoes for five days from Lake Hubert, through the Gull Lake chain and down the Mississippi River to Camp Ripley. The trip will cover better than 100 miles.

The Brainerd-Cuyuna Mining Co. has taken an option on 138 acres of Judge Holland’s property which adjoins the Rosko farm. The prospects for opening a large iron mine are good and means much toward making Brainerd a greater city.
