Directors of the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center have chosen Jill Waller of Hillman as their new director. Waller, at present the secretary of the Crow Wing County RSVP program, will take over from Jean Roach on August 17.

Brainerd Police recovered $3,500 worth of stolen bicycles (five) and motorcycles (three) during a search of a Northeast Brainerd home after a two-week investigation. Charges are pending against one male and two juveniles, according to Patrolman Irv Tollefson.

Highway traffic into Brainerd from the south was back to normal after a week-long struggle to repair flood damage. Highway 371 was opened yesterday afternoon and Highway 25 last night. Permanent repairs will have to wait much longer.

A nine-year-old Brainerd boy, who was stricken with polio last Thursday, is now a patient at the Kenny Institute in Minneapolis. His stay will be brighter because of $45 worth of gifts raised by his pals in Brainerd, led by Paul Akre, who suffered polio last summer.

Henry Anderson, the janitor at the post office, and his son Peter Anderson, picked 54 quarts of blueberries two miles from Merrifield on Sunday. Henry reports the crop of berries to be the best and most abundant he has ever seen.
