“Chief” Bender was the first. “Bullet Joe” Bush was the second. Now, Todd Revenig is the latest. Revenig, a relief pitcher who had 31 saves for the Huntsville Stars in the Class AA Southern League, was called up to the majors with the Oakland Athletics.

Initial steps have been taken for the sale of radio station KVBR 1340 AM in Brainerd. Charles, June and Gary Persons have filed papers with the FCC to sell the station to the Larry Lakoduk family, operating as Midwest Radio Company of Brainerd, Inc.

Representatives from Brainerd, Baxter, Oak Lawn Township, Unorganized Territory and 30 Lakes Watershed tentatively agreed to a set of guidelines to form a council of governments. If successful, they could qualify the area for federal grants.

Three members of the Brainerd Braves baseball club, which just concluded its most successful season with a 13-3 win over Detroit Lakes, are headed to the pros. Mitch June, Willie Harris and Ralph Blinn go to Wisconsin Rapids, a Chicago White Sox farm team.

John Wahl told the Dispatch: “Whenever the Barrows mine ships iron ore, the town of Barrows will have a celebration that will open your eyes. We are going to hire a band, decorate the train and engine with banners and bunting, and have a meeting at the town hall.”
