After further review we have a reversal – the Vikings will not be on TV Sunday. KCCO-TV Channel 12 of Alexandria will not be permitted to televise today’s game since the game against Tampa Bay was not sold out 72 hours before game time.

30 years ago (1982)

Picket signs went up at the Burlington Northern railroad depot in Staples, as a nationwide strike by railroad engineers reduced railroad traffic to a trickle. Railroad officials said there are no plans for any picket lines at the Burlington Northern shops in Brainerd.

40 years ago (1972)

(Photo) A 2-pound crappie, taken at Lake Edward by Shirley Strand of Minneapolis, is one of few to show up on a scale in Paul Bunyan Vacationland this summer. She fished out of Pine Grove Resort using a Watergator.

Minnesota Attorney General Burnquist has ruled that a one mill levy can be made for the purpose of engaging in a mosquito control district, in addition to the 24 mill levy limit set by the city charter. The city council asked for the opinion to see if the added levy was legal.
