20 years ago (1992)

Officials were scrambling to get John Pavelich’s name on the Crosby election ballot. Through a clerical error, Pavelich, one of six running for two city council seats, was left off the ballot. It can be corrected by the Nov. 3 election, but some absentees have voted.

30 years ago (1982)

(Photo) Sara Dunlap, chair of this year’s United Way drive, is hoisted upon the shoulders of some of the volunteers who helped raise the more than $102,000 as the campaign exceeded its goal. This is the first time United Way raised more than $100,000 here.

40 years ago (1972)

60 years ago (1952)

Left halfback Billy Selisker enjoyed another of his good days, and this time the rest of the Warriors chipped in, as Brainerd concluded its season with its fourth win. Selisker scored three TDs in the first half as Brainerd romped to a 37-0 victory.

80 years ago (1932)

Brainerd’s Warriors settled down for a week of rest after throwing a scare into Little Falls’ fast stepping eleven, but losing 13-6 before a huge crowd here. The game was marked by many penalties and disagreements among officials on the new rules.

100 years ago (1912)

With a .38 Colt revolver attached to his belt full of cartridges, a tall man, wearing a large felt hat got off the M & I train and wandered down the streets of Brainerd. It is hoped nothing excites his umbrage and stirs this human arsenal into action.
