20 years ago (1992)

Trailing by 20 points at halftime, Brainerd pulled off a miraculous comeback in the Section 7AA foot ball semifinal. They scored 22 points in the 4th quarter to beat Grand Rapids 36-35 and move to the section championship game at unbeaten Cambridge.

30 years ago (1982)

Registered Brainerd voters need not skip voting due to transportation difficulties. A new service is being provided called the “Mayor’s Votercade.” A contingent of 30 Brainerd High School students are offering free rides between 3 and 7:30 p.m. on election day.

60 years ago (1952)

The Crow Wing County Fair Assn. held its annual meeting and elected officers. Dick Penrose of Brainerd and C. A. McLaird are new directors. Jack Chalberg is president; Adolph Prushek, VP; Birney C. Wilkins, secretary and Bill Friday, treasurer.

80 years ago (1932)

Evelyn Hall, the six-year-old girl from Northeast who swallowed a quarter, was back at home today after physicians at University Hospital in Minneapolis removed it from her throat. She had been given the quarter to buy candy and promptly put it in her mouth.

100 years ago (1912)

The Brainerd-Cuyuna Mining Co. is planning to sink a shaft on its property within the city limits of Brainerd. Two exploration drills are being run. That on the Rosko farm is in 100 feet of ore of the tough variety which is hard on the drills.
