When Scorpion Industries, the snowmobile manufacturer, went under in 1980, manager Roger Worth swore he had his fill of the recreation business. A year later he bought the factory and now produces Cuyuna Engines for ultralight aircraft.

(Photo) Nine bucks and three does were bagged by a local party of 12 hunters. They were: Clayton, Terry, Marvin, Dave, Elmer, Emil, Harold, Leo and Ronny Hines, plus Ricky Pickar, Cliff Carner and Pee Wee Thompson. They filled out by Sunday.

60 years ago (1952)

(Photo) Buzz Ruttger, operator of Ruttger’s Pine Beach Resort, started his turkey, “Mae West,” on a steady trot to win Brainerd’s third annual Turkey Derby and set a new track record of one minute, three seconds. The bird finished many lengths ahead.

80 years ago (1932)

(Edit.) Now, with the close of the deer hunting season, the suggestion to mount all deer heads and place them in a conspicuous window of your store is timely. Deer heads would attract the wandering eye of tourists and will dress your store window with appeal.
