Healthy competition between members of the Warrior gymnastics team is leaving opponents feeling unhealthy. Brainerd scored a season high 136.85 to top Hibbing’s 118.00. “Every day we’re getting stronger in practice,” said gymnast Caryn Niemi.

(Edit.) The Greenspan Commission has issued its report on proposed changes to the Social Security system. Both President Reagan and House Speaker Tip O’Neill have endorsed the package. We also feel the compromise is the best that can be achieved.

Some expert long-range firing by Whitey Skoog, former Brainerd ace and Minnesota All-American, led the Minneapolis Lakers to an 87-75 win over a College All-Star team in an exhibition at Crosby. He scored 19 points, as did Bud Grant, playing for the All-Stars.

St. Cloud’s hockey stars, one of the best amateur teams in the state, and strengthened by addition of 3 players from the teachers’ college, built an early lead and beat Brainerd’s Red Devils by a score of 5 to 1. Brainerd lost to Detroit Lakes 4-0 in its second game.

County Auditor Smart received a wolf hide by parcel post this morning, the postage being eight cents. Ed Richter of Little Pine had killed the animal and will draw an $11 bounty.
