Six talented Brainerd students recently participated in the Minnesota Children’s Honors Choir. They were: Annie Person and Jessica Harrison from Baxter Elementary, Christine Dallaire from Lowell, Jessica Collinsfrom from Harrison and Jesse Larson from Whittier.

S & L Stores, headquartered in Minneapolis, has announced it will open a Bostwick’s store in the Brainerd Mall on March 1st. The store specializes in women’s apparel and will be managed by Phil Riley, who was manager of the recently closed S & L store.

(Photos) Ted Blomlie, manager of Ray’s Sign Co., was rescued by the fire department’s Snorkel truck yesterday when a large sign on the Land O’ Lakes building pulled free and caused the sign company truck’s boom ladder to snap. Blomlie was uninjured.
60 years ago (1953)
Friday afternoon when Ray Hall lifts his leather mail pouch from his shoulder for the last time it will mark the end of 42 years and 8 months of service as a mail carrier. That is the longest service in the history of the Brainerd post office.

Dr. J. L. Camp has sold to Robert Whiteside, a prominent Duluth mining man, 400 acres plus options to explore an additional 600 acres. The property lies in Dr. Camp’s beautiful farm near the Mississippi. Drills are already working below the farm house near the river.
