The dream of an independent Motley school dissipated. Motley School District residents now find themselves torn between two alternatives. In separate elections, Motley and Staples will vote on whether to join. If not, Pillager could be an alternative choice.

As Brainerd gas stations prepare to close down their pumps this Sunday, those little red gas cans on store shelves are finding eager buyers. Area stations are closing Sunday in response to a request from Pres. Nixon, but expect Saturday sales to make up for it.
