There’s no going back now – the Motley and Staples school districts will solidify a rocky romance and be permanently joined as of July 1. Staples approved the merger by almost 8-to-1, with 788 yes and 101 no votes. Motley was closer, voting 560 yes and 490 no.

Despite a recommendation made by the city council in 1952 that fluoride be added to the city water supply, the Water and Light Board quietly shelved the project, it was learned today after inquiries by the Dispatch. Many local organizations are in favor of fluoride.

Frank Wright showed his generosity last week when he distributed portions of deer meat among his friends. Frank said he never knew he had so many friends, and some are still coming in to get a slice. He had his roasted on Sunday and every mouthful was a feast.
