Authorities arrest juvenile female after pursuit, crash
A girl is in custody and may face felony charges following a pursuit with a stolen vehicle that began in Brainerd.
A Crow Wing County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a vehicle at 10:20 p.m. Thursday that was driving without headlights in the area of Laurel and South Fourth streets in Brainerd. When the deputy activated his red lights, the vehicle fled westbound on Laurel Street at very high speeds failing to stop at several stop signs, the sheriff's office reported.
As the deputy pursued the vehicle on Laurel Street, the vehicle lost control on the 90 degree corner at Highland Scenic Drive. The vehicle left the roadway, hit a power pole and rolled several times before coming to rest in a wooded area, the sheriff's office reported.
The driver, a juvenile female who escaped from a treatment facility, was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and was then taken into custody. The vehicle she was driving was also stolen from Litchfield.
Brainerd and Baxter police departments and North Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.
