Robert "Dave" Miller

Robert "Dave" Miller of Ironton, MN passed away on February 10, 2017 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN. He was born July 16, 1947 in Coshocton City, Ohio to Robert and Victoria (Russ) Miller. He served in the Air Force from 1967-1971 and was assigned to US Space Command, Space and Missile Systems Organization, California. During the first two years, he trained as a dental laboratory technician. Later he worked on the SkyLab One project.

During his life, Dave enjoyed numerous careers including photojournalism, retail management and advertising. After moving to Minnesota, Dave started his own business working with casinos, providing promotional items. He also began working on economic development in cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Dave retired January 2011 and enjoyed being involved with the Wealthwood Gun Club and the Central Lakes Corvette Club, being a SCORE mentor, and participating in a county initiative that promotes new business in the county.

Dave is survived by his wife Judy of 18 years; and her children, Kim (Ray) Austin and Jason (Darcy) Walkowiak and stepson, Jason Shaddox; grandsons, Cameron and Keaton Walkowiak, sisters Jan Wintle of Omaha, NE, Ann (Mike) Hupka of Omaha, NE; and 20 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Jim Wintle and his beloved Carra.

Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour before services. Military Honors will be provided by Brainerd and American Legion and V.F. W. Color Guard.

Dave requested casual attire as we celebrate his life!

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wealthwood Gun Club or Retrieve A Golden of Minnesota (RAGOM) are preferred.
