Marcella D. Kohls, age 92, of Clinton, MN died March 17, 2017, in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, at 11:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Rev. David Tonn will officiate and burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church, one hour prior to the services. Casket bearers will be: Nathan Berge, Megan Beck Kohls, Jim Anderson, John Anderson, Elaine Anderson, and Michael Mielitz.
Marcella Kohls was born on July 1, 1924, to Theodore and Sophie (Swenson) Anderson in Graceville, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Graceville High School in 1942. Marcella met Milton Kohls while she was roller skating and on June 8, 1947, they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. They were blessed with two children, Steve and Nancy.
Marcella's first job was at JC Penney in Ortonville, Minnesota. She went on to work in several offices - ASCS in Madison, Job Services in Appleton, and at the Delton Silberstein State Farm Agency in Ortonville. Marcella became a real estate agent and broker in the mid-1980s and remained in the business until her health forced her retirement just this past decade.
Marcella organized the North Stars 4-H Club of Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, and was the leader for several years. She loved animals and raised ducks and chickens. Marcella was a lifelong and faithful Lutheran, having been a member at First English Lutheran Church since the early 1980s. Marcella and Milton loved to dance! Together they waltzed and two stepped throughout their lives.
Left with her loving memory are her children Steve (Lisa) Kohls of Brainerd, MN, and Nancy (John) Berge of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Megan Kohls and Nathan Berge; brothers Laurence (Jean) Anderson of New Brighton, MN, and Arnold (Sue) Anderson of Graceville, MN; and nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, in 1993; and her grandson, Joel Berge, in 2013.
