Robert "Bob" Timothy Sarna

Robert "Bob" Timothy Sarna

Robert Timothy Sarna, age 64 of Pillager, passed away surrounded by loved ones, after losing his battle with cancer on Monday, August 7, 2017.

Bob was born in Minneapolis to John & Josephine (Gworek) Sarna. His single biggest joy in life was family. He married the love of his life, Dixie Lasher on August 10, 1974, and together they raised their two wonderful sons Jason and Jeremy. Also left to cherish his memory is his older brother John and wife Ann, who he looked up to and loved dearly.

With open arms, he welcomed his daughter in laws Rhianne and JoAnn into the family. He also loved becoming a papa to his precious grandchildren Dylan & Ava, who were the joy of his life.

Preceding Bob in death are his parents; sisters: Lorraine Vanyo and Dorothy Lundberg.

He was passionate about his work and spent over 42 years with the MN OSHA Department of Labor & Industry. He was respected and loved by his colleagues and made a massive difference to the safety of people in the workplace.

Out at the lake was his favorite place to be. Either fishing or hunting in the nearby woods with his boys and grandchildren. Never caring whether he fished himself, he just soaked up the time spent with family. Self-proclaimed as the guide', he could always find the sweet spot where the fish were hiding. And with a twinkle in his eye, he reveled in taking his share of the credit for any fish caught that day.

His talent for taxidermy was legendary and he took great pride in taking people's prized hunting and fishing trophies and turning them into works of art. Many of his customers came to him year after year, and many more became great friends.

He also loved being in the field with his Springer Holly. He found more joy in watching her work and bring back birds for the guided hunting trips than hunting himself.

He found Oak Street Chapel as his home to worship Jesus. He so enjoyed the fellowship.

His special gift for teasing and great sense of humor left an impression on everyone who knew him. He could tell tall tales with the best of them.

He'll be remembered as a selfless man you couldn't help but like, who went out of his way to be kind and who would always put a smile on your face. Until we meet again sweetheart, dad and papa. We love you.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Oak Street Chapel with Pastor Todd Wooden officiating:

10:00 - Visitation prior to service.

11:00 - Memorial service followed by sharing stories of Bob's life, with luncheon to follow in the church basement.
