Emery Nelson

Emery Marshel Nelson passed away on January 11, 2018, while in hospice care at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Rowe; three children and their spouses: Gary (Deb) Nelson, Diane (Michael) Marcum, Deb (David) Ryder; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters; and dozens of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Nelson; and sons, Jeffrey Nelson and baby Bruce Nelson; and 9 siblings.

Emery was born in Pequot Lakes, MN, on December 28, 1926, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was employed at the Federal Reserve and Comptroller of the Currency for more than 3 decades. During his career he served as head of the Sioux Falls, SD office and was Chief Examiner for the 9th District. A resident of Nisswa, MN, he previously lived in Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center, MN.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, January 16, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, with funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 17, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
