Gilbert E. Claypatch
MERRIFIELD - Gilbert "Gib" Elsemore Claypatch, of Merrifield, Minn., passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 19, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was a deeply religious, kind and compassionate man who believed in and practiced an unbending commitment to marriage. He cherished and is survived by his wife, (Mary Lou Feigal), of 57 loving years. Together they raised a family full of love and grace, all of whom will remember him by living their lives with these same gifts. Preceded in death by parents, Henry, and wife, Charlotte Claypatch. He is survived by brothers, Jack and Jim Claypatch; also by his children, Steve, David (Kazuko), Theresa Pierce (Larry), Mary Milbrath (Mike), and Cindi Claypatch. Gilbert was also blessed with eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, and with whom he shared his time and wisdom. Time and visitation to celebrate Gib's life will be held at Thursday 9 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 3817 Pleasant Ave. So., followed immediately by a memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Though his hometown is Minneapolis, Gib spent the golden years of his life at his cabin on Pelican Lake and with a wonderful group of friends whom he loved and respected. There will be a separate memorial service in the Merrifield area in the spring. His wishes are that any memorials be sent to the Minnesota Multiple Sclerosis Society or The Habitat for Humanity.
