Eleanor Tabert

Eleanor Tabert, 92, of Brainerd, died Jan. 2, 2011, in Duluth. She was born June 21, 1918, in Brainerd to William and Jennie Keeler. A 1936 graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School, she was a member of the Crosby Methodist Church and taught Sunday School. Following teachers’ training, she taught in rural schools for four years. In 1941 Eleanor married Donald Tabert at the Ironton Presbyterian Church. While Don served in the Army, she worked at the Ironton Hardware. Later, Eleanor became a full-time homemaker and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Ironton Rebekah Lodge and the Cuyuna Range Historical Society. She returned to work in 1964 with Don in the hardware store. In 1979 Eleanor and Don retired to Moose Lake. In 1996 they relocated to Brainerd, and became members of the First Presbyterian Church.

Preceded in death by husband Don and brother Donald, Eleanor is survived by sons David (Deborah) of Edina, and Richard (Lynette) of Duluth, granddaughters Andrea (Joe) Eber of Proctor, and Jennie (Travis) Taylor of Cook, seven great-grandchildren, brother Robert (Ruth) Keeler of San Diego, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd or Crosby-Ironton Presbyterian Church.
