Joseph Ribikawskis, age 80, 42-year-resident of Brainerd, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Chicago.
He attended St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. He was a member of the Christian Brotherhood for 25 years. Joe taught at Hill High School and DeLaSalle High School in the Twin Cities before teaching Algebra and Physics at Brainerd High School from 1968 until his retirement in 1995. Joe was an avid fisherman and a lover of classical music. He enjoyed traveling to visit his daughter and her family as they moved across the country while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed taking trips to Alaska and Lithuania with his daughter.
He is survived by his daughter, Marya (Larry) Halbach and Ben, Ethan and Lydia Halbach.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Ribikawskis; and his brother, George Ribikawskis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
