Shirley A. Green

Shirley “Shirl” Ann Green passed away April 12, 2011 at her Brainerd residence of more than 20 years. She was born on Oct. 8, 1946 in Brainerd to Art and Elsie Graber. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, James “Jimmy” Graber. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Lynna (David) Strom, Shelley Green; and granddaughter, Allie Marie, all of Minneapolis.

Shirley was raised on a farm in Oak Lawn Township, Brainerd. She graduated from Washington High School in 1964. Over the years she enjoyed her dog “Boomer,” working at the bank, volunteer activities at church, playing piano with her granddaughter, traveling with her family, taking rides in the convertible out to the farm, sharing her farm stories with us — which we enjoyed immensely, and visiting with neighbors and friends. Shirley was the most special of people and never said a bad word about anyone. We cannot say enough about her caring and compassionate nature. She was the most loving mother and grandmother. Shirley took great pride in her daughters. Words can’t express how much she will be missed by her devoted family. “We will love you forever.”

A memorial service and burial at Evergreen Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Brainerd Area Catholic Churches, 1108 Willow St., Brainerd, MN 56401.

Arrangements are by Nelson-Doran Funeral Home and Crematory.
