Colleen was born May 27, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Mandel and Selma (Randberg) Jacobson. She graduated from Pierz Healy High School in Pierz, Minn., with the class of 1972. Colleen was united in marriage to David Virnig on February 12, 1972 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, Minn. The couple has resided in Pierz, Minn., for many years raising their four children. Colleen worked various jobs throughout her life as a waitress and cook at Shady Brook and Sue’s Drive-In. She also worked for Thielen’s Meat Market in Pierz, Minn., and most recently at Wal-Mart in Little Falls as manager of customer service. Colleen was a wonderful hostess who loved to cook and entertain her family and many friends. She also loved sitting on her swing around a bon-fire and taking short trips up-north. Colleen had a green thumb, growing large and beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Her family and neighbors will always remember the great memories they had together on the “Hillbilly Hay Rides.” In 2002, Colleen started her fight with ovarian cancer “The Silent Killer.” She fought the disease hard and in 2010 it came back and it took her way too young. She was an amazing woman to so many people; she was dearly loved and is going to be greatly missed by many.
