Carlton of Emily, Minn. during WWII and became his wife on Sept. 20, 1945, after a two-year engagement. Ruth is survived by her husband Del Carlton of Emily, Minn.; daughter, Susan Clark and her husband Stanley of Redding, Calif.; son, Steven Carlton and his wife Katherine of Emily; son, John Carlton and his wife Janet of Emily; daughter, Jane Hall and her husband Jack of Houston, Texas; also surviving are extended family, Loretta Gohl of Nisswa, Letty Lee Henderson of Grand Rapids, Virginia Cowden of Crosby; three sisters, Eunice Carr of St. Cloud; Letty Prigge of Grand Rapids and Garnet Nekvinda of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
While their children were young, Mrs. Carlton was a stay-at-home mom. After accepting Jesus Christ as her savior on Easter, 1964, she served as a lay counselor and Christian mentor together with her husband, Del in Cleveland, Ohio, and Northern Minnesota.
The couple chose a working retirement, founding Cornerstone Christian School in Emily, Minn. in 1982. As an elementary teacher, Mrs. Carlton dearly loved and faithfully gave her all to her students for over 20 years.
