IRONTON — Emil John Zauhar, age 93, of Ironton, died on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born in Crosby on April 12, 1918, to Mike and Mary (Majnaric) Zauhar. He married Hazel Dell Olsen on Oct. 20, 1945, in Edina.  He has been a life long resident of the Cuyuna Range. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel with 30 years of service. Emil was a former Ironton City Council member.  He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby and a life member of the Myrin-James American Legion Post #443, Ironton, past Commander and past Sergeant of Arms.

Survivors include his wife Hazel; one son, Terry Zauhar of Hopkins; two daughters, Loretta (Dale) Rohwer of Plymouth and Susan (Bruce) Johnson of Lindstrom; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, six brothers, Michael, Joseph, William, Robert, John and George Zauhar; two sisters, Martha Kaminsky and Annie LeMonde.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby with full military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion. Friends may call on Monday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
