Merlin 'Bud' Biever

Merlin “Bud” Joseph Biever, 80, of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at his home. Bud was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Woodstock, Minn., to Joseph and Ann (Johnson) Biever. He was married to Lois Fleischacker for 59 years.

Bud was a SGT in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during the Korean War. He was part of the Chosin Reservoir. He was a member of the Brainerd VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Linda (Robert) Baumgartner, of Lake Shore, Susan (Duane) Price, of Big Lake, Mike (Melissa) Biever, of Coon Rapids, Brian Biever, of Brainerd, Brenda (Mike Burbach), of Pine River; brother, Lee Biever, of Annandale; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph; brother, Alvin “Sonny;” sister, JoAnn; and grandsons, Robbie and Troy Michael.

Services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2011, at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minn.
