Marvin L. Baker
Marvin Lyle Baker, 79, Brainerd, born Aug. 25, 1932, died Aug. 31, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Village - Woodland. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Dykeman Union Cemetery near Garrison.
He served in Korea from 1949-1951. He was married in 1955 to Alice Gottsch. Besides being self-employed for many years, Marv worked as a heavy equipment operator, forestry foreman, forest tech and a county agriculture inspector. When he retired in 1996, he often said, “there is never a dull moment.”
He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by his sons, Robert Baker, of Brainerd, and Rodney (Brenda) Baker, of Brainerd; daughter, Cindy (Dan) Derfler, of Pequot Lakes; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Maurice (Ruthe) Baker, of Morristown, N.J., and William (Jaci) Baker, of Brainerd.
