UPDATE: Final Minnesota legislative bills may be passed in middle of the night

Robert Marohn Sr.

BAXTER — Robert Marohn, Sr., age 85, lifelong Baxter resident, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living. Mr. Marohn was born in Brainerd on Aug. 28, 1926. He married Maxine Gendron on July 8, 1944. Robert served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He was a life member of the American Legion and the VFW and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He served as the Mayor of Baxter and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #36 in Baxter. He had been employed at Potlatch for 35 years and in retirement worked for Reichert Bus.

Survivors include his sons, Robert (Andrea) Marohn, Jr. of Brainerd, Michael (Barbara) Marohn of Brainerd, Charles (Brenda) Marohn of Baxter, Wayne (Lydia) Marohn of Pillager, James (Candace) Marohn of Pillager; daughters, Janice Marohn (Gary Peterson) of Baxter, Jamie (Robert) Masters of Brainerd; 22 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Mildred Francis Marohn; his wife, Maxine; and his sister, Alice Barrett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Keith Bertram officiating. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post No. 1647. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday with parish prayers at 6 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation continues at the church Monday the hour before the service.
